Mark Haroldsen was into the real estate investments. He authored a book - How to Awaken the Financial Genius within You. Mark acquired fame through his special ad to sell his book. This full-page ad was a direct mail for selling his book and was almost a magazine in itself. However, such ads no longer appeal to the public. Mark wrote in simple English and even youngsters could easily comprehend the subject. Nevertheless, Mark’s book had many errors. He overstated facts and presented exorbitant increases in income levels through real estate investing. In reality, such increases are not possible. In a way, this is misguiding public.
Later, Mark Haroldsen held many real estate investing seminars all over the nation. Holding real estate seminars was uncommon and the trend was just picking up. Mark too followed in the footsteps of other real estate gurus like Nick Nickerson and Al Lowry. However, Robert Allen took concrete steps for holding of regular seminars on the real estate business. These seminars with info commercials, cassette tapes, and notebooks were too costly and newcomers to real estate had to pay huge sums to gain little knowledge about the real estate investments.
Mark Haroldsen is now the publisher of Financial Freedom Report, which is a quarterly report. Actually, Mark is in the bad books of many real estate investors. His Financial Freedom Report has many cases of wrong sales practices. There are round 83 cases of deceit against Financial Freedom Report according to a 5/19/97 KLS-TV story in Salt Lake City and supported by The Utah Division of Consumer Protection. There are over 900 such complaints since 1993. Commonwealth of Virginia is also taking action against Financial Freedom Report.
Other than that, Wisconsin State Bureau of Consumer Protection also advocates against Financial Freedom Report. It ranks among several ‘Questionable Info Commercials’ in the guide published by Wisconsin State Bureau of Consumer Protection. Overall, Mark Haroldsen does not deal in clear terms. He is always duping people of their money and taking innocent ones for a ride. He does not follow any particular ideology and adopts many wrong practices to earn money. He treats his clients shabbily. He reprints various chapters from books of other real estate gurus without following proper code of reprinting. He also does not pay full amounts for such reprints. Obviously, Mark Haroldsen does not rank among the best real estate gurus.
