ProgramCritique.com Review:

While many scholars have emphasized importance of classroom teaching, Marty Nemko stressed on how colleges figure as one of the most overrated products in America. Marty Nemko highlights relevance of self-education over classroom education in attaining financial independence.

Introduced at ABC-TV’s Summit on Education as “The Ralph Nader of Education”, Marty Nemko has written 5 books and more than 400 articles. He brings to light another aspect of college education that promises job for only a fixed period making you jobless even when you still have the potential to work. Marty Nemko has experience of working with more than 1,900 job seekers. The list includes doctors, lawyers, top-level executives and other professionals and he is able to satisfy about 97 percent of his clientele.

Marty Nemko is associated with coauthoring of Cool Careers for Dummies. It has made the Wall Street Journal's national business best-seller list. In the reader’s choice poll the book is rated as the No. 1 career guide. He has worked for the past fourteen years as host of "Work with Marty Nemko". The program airs on San Francisco National Public Radio affiliate and you can even hear it worldwide at Marty Nemko's Web Site, Sundays from 11 a.m. to noon PST. Significance of his contribution can be had from that his weekly column figures on the front page of job section of Sunday San Francisco Chronicle. It has also appeared on the employment section of Sunday Los Angeles Times for the past three years.

Marty Nemko was the host of Monster-underwritten show, "Eight Keys to a Better Worklife," that many PBS-TV stations aired nationwide. Marty Nemko has served as a notable workshop provider and speaker on corporate and college campuses. Besides, the revised edition of Cool Careers For Dummies lends you an insight into procuring a job if you do not exactly know where to look for it. The book deals with many topics varying from finding the right career for you to customizing it to make it better.

This book does not deal with cover letters and forming resumes and if you are searching for such material, you are on the wrong track. It surely helps you in looking for a career or reentering it after a short span. Once you have taken out some career options for you, the book will help you in choosing the right path for you. Thus, Marty Nemko’s book is recommendable for people trying to figure out a career for themselves.
